DIY Security Cameras
ADT showcased its new DIY smart home security brand, Blue by ADT, at CES. The new camera line takes advantage of ADT’s acquisition of LifeShield, providing customers with an extendable DIY sys- tem to customize their homes with self-monitoring, month-to-month or 24/7 professional monitoring backed by the company. The first products released are stand-alone smart cameras, including an in- door camera, outdoor camera and doorbell camera. Each camera can be used on its own or be part of a larger integrated home security system. One highlighted feature is that Blue cameras will insert a video clip into the alert, allowing users to see if it’s worth further investigation instead of having to click through a notification to see the video feed.

Cloud Security
OpenEye integrated Maxxess eFusion secu- rity management software into the OpenEye Web Services ecosystem late last year. eFusion allows security personnel to more precisely monitor and assess potential and emerging threats and respond quickly to emergencies. The integration enables the Maxxess monitoring software to retrieve video from OpenEye video surveillance systems through OpenEye Web Services (OWS) and allow users to view it natively in eFusion. Users can view both live and recorded video in reference to access control events. eFusion establishes a connection to record- ers using OpenEye Web Services’ Web Connect technology, improving connection reliability. The new integration increases user ability to conduct video verification of events.

Video Surveillance Tool
Genetec has introduced a new point-of-sale inte- gration tool to help retailers speed up theft investi- gation: the Security Center Transaction Finder. The tool is integrated in the security system to combine point-of-sale data with corresponding video . There is an option to incldue analytics and other data sources in the analysis. Users will no longer need to jump between different platforms and will be able to filter through large volumes of transactions to detect suspicious activity, according to Genetec. All that investigators need to do is enter search criteria like date and time, employee name, void transac- tions, motion detected on the customer side and more. The tool will then scan the POS database for activities that meet the selected criteria.
