Sensor and Microphone
SOS—Siren-Operated Sensor introduced two new products that ensures emergency vehicles can gain fast access to any gated facility by simply acti- vating the vehicle siren—saving precious response time in an emergency. The first new product is the SOS-12—Siren-Operated Sensor. Totally rede- signed, with more features and faster gate opening response time for faster access. The up-front mi- crophone quickly detects vehicle siren “yelp,” and the new electronic design and circuitry ensure fast gate response. Next, the new SOS-RM—Remote Microphone extends the reach of the SOS-12 sen- sor. The remote microphone can be placed up to 50’ away from the SOS-12 unit. This allows the SOS-12 unit to be installed in a cabinet inside a guard shack or any other remote location. The company, based in Idaho, has been in business since 1992.

Security Management Software
Johnson Controls has released the newest version of Tyco Kantech EntraPass security management software, enabling new functionalities such as ex- panded audit features and other enhancements for a more streamlined experience for users. EntraPass v8.10 users can run audit reports based on cards, components and operators, including a detailed re- port of who made changes to a card or component and when the changes were made. Weather Protection
Viking Electronics Inc. announced Enhanced Weather Protection for applications requiring an extra layer of protection against moisture, vehicle exhaust, pool chemicals or extreme temperatures. Viking products with Enhanced Weather Protection have a circuit board that is potted in urethane or thermoplastic. The potting material won’t crack in cold weather, it provides protection against moisture and condensation, and it’s an excellent electrical insulator. In conjunction with the potting material, EWP products feature internally sealed push-to-call buttons, dip-switches, and volume control pots. Additional gaskets for the speaker, mic and faceplate make EWP compliant to an IP66 rat- ing. Door and gate entry phones that are exposed to the harsh elements can also be protected with Enhanced Weather Protection.

Gunshot Detection Sensor
Shot Tracer released its Hawk Outdoor Gunshot Detection Sensor. By automatically detecting and pushing notifications of gunshot activity from the instant an incident begins to unfold, Hawk further empowers security personnel and first responders to best manage active shooter situations before a facility is breached. Hawk integrates with virtually any security, alarm, surveillance and access sys- tem via contact closure (Hawk AP)—or wirelessly via IP integration (Hawk IP). After detecting a gun- shot, Hawk AP sends a contact closure alert to the facility’s alarm panel indicating if it was a single or multiple gunshot event. Hawk IP sends alerts of detected gunshots’ time, location and number of shots fired over Verizon (USA) or Vodafone (Global) wireless services to user-designated individuals in- cluding local police and medical facilities.

Video Assurance Service
Viakoo announces the release of its Video Assur- ance Service (VAS). Many small and medium-sized businesses do not have staff to manage their video systems themselves, resulting in gaps in the video record, called “missing video evidence.” Unfortu- nately, this missing video evidence usually isn’t dis- covered until it’s too late. Viakoo provides oversight, automatic problem detection, continuous automat- ed diagnostics with recommendations on how to fix it, and then teams with partners to resolve the problem either remotely or onsite. Customers re- ceive a weekly summary report. As a managed ser- vice, VAS fits with the way many small and medium sized organizations buy other services for their business operations such as email, backup and disaster recovery, networking, website, and more.
