Q: What if the driver already setup a MyLUCI account but does not want LUCI to share his/her data with the MyLUCI app anymore?
Each LUCI driver gets a unique Wheelchair Key that is tied to their account. If the Wheelchair
Key is present, then LUCI will send data to their MyLUCI account when connected to a network. If the Wheelchair Key isn’t present, then no personal data gets transmitted. LUCI uses the presence of the driver’s Wheelchair Key as yet another check and verification of identity for security.
If you do not want LUCI to share data with the MyLUCI app, then keep the Wheelchair Key away from the chair. You will know that LUCI doesn’t sense the Wheelchair Key if the Personalized Status light on the Dashboard is off.
Q: What if the driver does not want his/her information and location shared with caregivers?
The MyLUCI app allows each driver to control access to their identified data and to customize notification and data preferences. Drivers have the choice of whether or not they want to add a team of caregivers. If they do, they can then choose what information is shared with each individual on their team. Before any identified data is shared with another person the driver must invite that person in the MyLUCI app. Drivers have the right to revoke data privileges from an invited person whenever they choose. Drivers can use MyLUCI to share data, or not. They are in control.
Q: What is the deidentified data created by LUCI?
LUCI reserves the right to use deidentified and anonymous data for product improvement and may share it with partners to help move the seating and mobility industry forward.
Deidentified engineering data (data not attached to personal identifiers such as name, email address etc.) is sent to our team when LUCI is connected to Wi-Fi. An example of the deidentified engineering data being shared from a LUCI unit is shown below for reference:
If a driver wishes to opt-out of sharing this data they may do so in the Setup Tool when their LUCI unit is first set up. Opting-out makes it harder for LUCI to continue to improve the product for all drivers, so please help out the LUCI team by sharing this data.
If a driver has opted not to use the MyLUCI App then they have also opted not to share usage data such as collisions avoided, tip protection interventions or other anonymous data with LUCI that could help improve LUCI and challenge the industry.
