FACEBOOK ON COURSERA. Social networking giant Facebook is partnering with Coursera to launch a new Social Media Marketing Profes- sional Certificate, designed to prepare learners of any background for jobs in the social media marketing field in just 20 weeks. The self-paced, five-course program will cover social media marketing basics for various platforms, including creating impactful content, identifying the right platform for campaigns, measuring campaign effectiveness and protecting user data, accord- ing to a news announcement.

SHARING COURSES. The University of Massa- chusetts has launched the Inter-campus Course Exchange (ICX), an initiative to make courses from all UMass campuses available to students at any institution in the system. Undergraduate and graduate students who are interested in a class that is unavailable at their own campus will now have the option to take equivalent courses at another campus, remotely. BACK TO SCHOOL. The University of Louisiana System’s Compete Louisiana college completion initiative is collaborating with StraighterLine to create a new re-entry academy designed to help adults who have stopped out of university return to earn their degree. The Compete LA Academy offers competency-based online courses, personalized counseling and help with financial aid and credit transfers.

ROBOT DELIVERIES. Students at Arizona State University and James Madison University (VA) can now order food for delivery by autonomous robot, thanks to a partnership between food and facilities provider Aramark and Starship Technologies. Through the Starship Deliveries mobile app, students can choose food and drink items from campus eateries or local merchants, and then drop a pin on an interactive map to indicate where the delivery should be sent. They can watch the robot’s progress on the map, and when it arrives, unlock it through the app and collect their items.

HANDS-ON AT HOME. The University of Michi- gan’s College of Engineering has dedicated $500,000 to help create high-quality learning experiences for students in hybrid and remote courses — particularly when it comes to hands- on projects. Half of the funding was used to design courses that would enable some stu- dents to attend in person while others partici- pate remotely (the hybrid model), while the other half was spent on materials to create at- home project kits for students.
