Video Management System
LenelS2 has added major enhancements to VRx, a video management platform featuring a unified access control and video surveillance experience in conjunction with its native NetBox access con- trol system, the Magic Monitor unified client and Cumulus cloud-based service. The deep learn- ing technology in VRx allows for advanced object detection and extended situational awareness, taking in new video as data and improving iden- tification and classification algorithms over time. Backpacks, cars, trucks, people and animals can be detected using the VMS, allowing security staff to quickly spot ricks and locate recorded video of interest to law enforcement.
Access Control Cabinets
Morse Watchmans will soon introduce new touchless facial recognition access and an anti- microbial powder coating on its KeyWatcher and AssetWatcher access control systems. The en- hancements are meant to help fight the spread of the coronavirus and assuage concerns about staff health as employees use access control solutions at work. All new Keywatcher and AssetWatcher cabinets will be manufactured with the coating at no added cost to customers. In addition, the facial recognition option will be available in Q3 2020 and help facilitate touchless access control. The company had features in place that emphasize cleanliness, including touchless proximity card access support.
Video Intercom Monitor
Paxton introduced the Entry Standard monitor to its video intercom product line with simplicity in mind. The versatile monitor is a cost-effective solu- tion that can be used in a number of applications, including schools, hospitals, offices and apartment buildings. Featuring high audio quality, full-duplex voice communication and a clear user interface on a 4.3-inch capacitive touch screen, the monitor can be quickly installed on a wall or desk mounted with or without a handset. The video intercom system consists of three components that are auto-detect- ed on setup, including external panel, interior moni- tor and door control unit.
Access Power Controller
Altronix has released a new solution for a wide range of locking devices for network monitoring, reporting and control of eight independently con- trolled fuse or PTC protected access control out- puts. The LINQ8ACM Dual-Voltage Access Power Controller with LINQ Network Power Management is equipped with bi-color LEDs indicating 12 or 24VDC on each of the 8-outputs for instant on-site verification. Distributing power to a variety of ac- cess control devices, including magnetic locks and electric strikes, the product also features emergen- cy input trigger for alarm monitoring, a disconnect feature, spade connectors to daisy-chain multiple modules, and protection using PTCs or automotive style fuses.
Work-From-Home Network Security
Censys released a free one-click tool that allows work-from-home employees – a population that has grown exponentially due to the coronavirus pan- demic – to instantly check their home WiFi networks and exposed devices for security vulnerabilities and risks. The tool, available at me.censys.io, automati- cally captures the user’s IP address and examines the network for open ports or banners. The tool offers remediation suggestions and enables users to email a security report directly to their IT or se- curity team. Some vulnerabilities Censys examines are exposed IoT and embedded devices (including cameras and routers), exposed databases, exposed gateways and network management exposures.
Industrial Access Switches
TRENDnet announced the addition of two new Industrial Gigabit PoE+ Wall-Mounted Front Ac- cess Switches to its existing line of rugged in- dustrial networking solutions. The new products aim to provide high-speed network connections for smaller installation spaces that are unable to be fitted with a traditional rackmount or DIN-Rail network switch. The specific switches – the 10- Port Industrial Gigabit PoE+ Wall-Mounted Front Access Switch and the 6-Port Industrial Gigabit PoE+ Wall-Mounted Front Access Switch – fea- ture a hardened IP30 rated metal housing and are resistant to high levels of vibration and shock. Devices are suitable for rugged environments and automation networks.
