PROJECT OF DISTINCTION
ANN RICHARDS SCHOOL FOR YOUNG WOMEN LEADERS AUSTIN INDEPENDENT SCHOOL DISTRICT
AUSTIN, TEXAS
THE NEW ANN RICHARDS School is a unique 6–12th grade, all-girls public school that provides students, staff, and the community with
an innovative and inspiring place developed to embody the school’s core values
and distinctive STEM/maker culture. Filled with natural light, common areas that flex for multiple uses, small break-out rooms, reflective nooks, and creative design elements, this school was designed to empower lead- ership and trust in the learn- ing environment instead of control and compliance.
Incorporating concepts from higher education and open co-working spaces, the result is an exemplary campus focused on prepar- ing young women to attend and graduate from college, commit to a healthy and well balanced lifestyle, lead with courage and compas- sion, and solve problems creatively and ethically in support of a global com- munity.
Features like the library’s spiral slide, shared art
and engineering outdoor workspace, and a courtyard overlooked by a heritage tree make the campus a memorable step on the journey to develop the skills necessary to pursue college educations and careers.
