Numotion 2019 NLC
was Ryan Hagy, Regional VP, Texas. “They’re incredible and I love them
like they’re my own family,” Swinford
said of the Wendlers. “To see the impact they’ve had on our own team is really something that’s hard to put into words.”
To close the conference, Numotion brought in former running back Emmitt Smith, who holds the National Football League record for most rushing yards
in a career. Smith, who spent nearly all
of his career with the Dallas Cowboys, spoke about confronting and cele- brating change while remaining humble.
“I played football for 28 years of my life,” Smith, 49, told attendees. “Then I retired. What next? We all have to face our fears. We all have to face the things that keep us from thinking outside the box.”
Smith lauded attendees for their work, saying, “You’re transforming lives.” But he also reminded them, “No one becomes successful by themselves. Remaining humble makes you hungry. Humility has a way of keeping us grounded.”

The Hall of Famer’s message was right on target for a meeting that emphasized the power of every Numotion attendee to be a leader.
“He’s reinvented himself at every level as he’s continued to be a cham- pion,” Swinford said of Smith. “Hearing him talk about life lessons certainly applies to us on any given day and the journey we’re on as a company. He was really honored and excited to speak with a company that’s so dedi- cated to improving people’s lives, and he mentioned that a half dozen times in his keynote.”

face every day.
“The takeaways that I received
from various participants,” Swinford said, “were all about how they were going to lead differently in 2019. I always have an objective of people being very excited about where
the company is going, but also self reflective about what they need to do more of, less of, and differently to help us get to where we want to go.
“We focus on making sure every aspect of the meeting is impactful. We make sure that every aspect of the conference strikes people emotion- ally and makes them feel something unique about the company, about where we’re going. Our objective is
to really connect with people on an emotional basis in terms of where we’re trying to take the company, how we’re trying to improve the company, and ultimately how we’re trying to better serve our customers.
“I think we’ve achieved that the
last several years, but this year was a NuLevel in terms of this conference.” m
