How 22 companies are transforming the government IT market

This inaugural list of Washington Technology Industry Innovators offers inspiring examples of some of the best things happening in today’s government market.
We launched the awards program because we have noticed companies making funda- mental changes in how they operate — driven by customer needs, budget realities and technological advances. We’ve seen companies make changes to improve innovation and efficiency in four primary ways: through acquisitions; strategic hiring; restructurings and process changes; and research and development, technology partnerships and alliances.
To gather nominations, we asked companies to tell us what they are doing in those areas to transform their businesses and better serve their customers. It was no easy task winnow- ing down our nominations to 22 and even harder to pick the winners in the four categories. But the winning companies stand out for their innovations and for the impact those innova- tions are having on the companies and their customers.
The future looks bright for all the winners. Although they have already taken great strides to be successful, they show no signs of stopping. Innovation is part of their DNA, and their journeys are just beginning.
