When a firearm is found at a security checkpoint, TSA will contact local law en- forcement to unload and take possession of the firearm. The passenger might be ar- rested or cited. And the TSA can impose a civil penalty of almost $15,000. For the first offense, passengers who bring a fire- arm to a checkpoint will lost TSA Pre- Check eligibility for five years.
I’m all for the Second Amendment, but it should be common sense for anyone who travels to make sure that their fire- arms are not in their carry-on baggage. A few seconds checking your bags can help you make your flight and avoid a world of trouble to you and your wallet.
