CELEBRATING 40 YEARS OF PROTECTING THE THINGS THAT PROTECT YOU
Safety Technology International (STI) is a long-time trusted manufacturer of fire, safety and security products that help deter false alarms, prevent theft, and minimize damage to equipment in public buildings around the world. For almost 40 years STI has produced protective polycarbonate covers, enclosures, push buttons, wire cages, and alarms to help address school and campus safety concerns with disruption, vandalism, tampering, misuse and theft.
It all started with a solution to a problem.
Every false fire alarm is costly and disruptive to establishments. A false alarm causes inconvenient evacuations and disrupts staff, students, and visitors. One way to reduce false fire alarms—and sometimes completely eliminate them—is with STI’s Universal Stopper®protective polycarbonate covers. The unique covers fit over manual pull stations and when the cover is lifted to gain access to the alarm, it flashes and a piercing warning horn sounds. Immediate attention is drawn to the area and the prankster will either run or be caught before a false alarm is pulled.
Safety and quick reaction time has increasingly become a greater concern on school and university campuses. STI’s easy-to-use lockdown push buttons allow a user to perform a calm, effective, and confident action when needed. The multipurpose buttons are avail- able in six colors, offered with lockdown, emergency or custom labeling.
STI also offers wire guards to protect smoke detectors, exit signs, horns/strobes and more. Quality heavy-duty construction of the cages helps protect appliances from van- dalism and accidental bumps from basketballs, volleyballs, students, etc. STI also has alarms to help prevent misuse of doors and theft or misuse of fire extinguishers.
Family owned and operated, STI’s story began with a challenge by a Detroit school ad- ministrator who needed to stop false fire alarms. STI’s Founder, Jack Taylor, used his expertise in security systems to invent the original Stopper®pull station protector, and the rest is history.
