THE New Face of IT IS IN THE CLOUD
These are exciting times we live in. It seems like every day there are new technologies being introduced that offer businesses the opportunity to improve processes, save money, and beat the competition. Consequently,
as businesses adopt these new technologies and start their own digital transformation, fundamental shifts in the way they operate begin as well. Today’s workplaces and schools are embracing mobility which lets users be more agile when it comes to where and how they get their jobs done. And as employees create change across all levels of an organization, the new face of IT defies boundaries.
It seems as though the lines that once defined the IT department are continually blurring. IT workers aren’t just facilitating business goals; they’re driving change at an organizational level. IT’s role has expand to impact customer service, sales, and even business strategies. As a result, organizations are increasingly turning IT into a driving force in all aspects of business.
A major driver in this latest evolution is the host of new Internet of Things devices joining the network that may have not existed just 12 months ago. They have received a lot of attention because of the cost and performance efficiencies that they offer, as well as the security holes that they can open up. Examples of where they help includes temperature sensors for monitoring refrigeration units, motion detectors for managing a buildings lighting, and surveillance video cameras for displaying and recording daily activity.
