Garrett started operations in 1964 and is a privately owned U.S. company. Garrett owns numerous patents, including the first patent devoted to using microprocessors for metal detection. All products are designed and produced solely in the United States and incor- porate state-of-the-art technology.
Garrett markets its products worldwide and is actively selling into more than 100 coun- tries. In addition to its home operation in Texas, the company currently has distribution warehouses in Holland, Dubai, and Australia to rapidly service the United Kingdom, Eu- rope, the Middle East, and Australia. Garrett’s Security Division utilizes a sophisticated international distribution network to sell and service its walk-through, hand-held, and ground-search metal detectors.
The company’s Security Division was created in 1982 when Charles Garrett was asked to develop and provide security screening metal detectors for the 1984 Los Angeles Olympic Games. This was the first use of walk-through and hand-held metal detectors by the Olympics. Since that time, Garrett has provided metal detection products and service for numerous international sporting events, including FIFA World Cup, the Pan American Games, and many summer and winter Olympics Games.
Garrett products are trusted to secure large-scale sports stadiums, special events ven- ues, and college facilities. The company has also furnished security checkpoint screening solutions for many types of public domains: airports, schools, courthouses, prisons, gov- ernment buildings, law enforcement, mass transit terminals, hospitals, loss prevention, and other application areas.
Garrett provides complete instruction of its security detection products’ applications through The Garrett Academy, the most comprehensive training course of metal detection screening checkpoints in the world.
