BIG WI-FI ON CAMPUS
Today’s college students aren’t that different from the college students of the past. They’re inspired by hope and plagued with fears. Their ambition is often clouded by ambiguity. And they’re simply trying to find their way in the world. Where they do differ, however, is in the slew of wireless devices they bring to campus and in their absolute insistence that the Wi-Fi network be spot on 24/7.
In a survey conducted for the State of RESNET Report 2016, 73% of Business and Housing Officers said that they consider “at home” quality network connections important to attract and retain on-campus students.
Students come to campus expecting that all of their devices will connect easily. They want to watch movies, visit social media, play videogames, and, oh yeah, get homework done at lightning-fast download speeds. And if they don’t get it, they complain, loudly, and across several media. Twitter, Instagram, and Snapchat are common ground for students to vent their frustrations about network issues.
To ensure your network isn’t one that they complain about, we invite you to take the following pop quiz on college campus Wi-Fi Networks.
