he cool part of being in the publishing business is meeting lots of people—people with varied interests and goals. Such is the case with Andrew and Gabriel Schonzeit. I met Andrew a couple years ago and have been amazed at his dedication to the security world, especially to campuses and education. I’ve never met Gabriel, but in
this world of Internet, texting and emails, we’ve come to know each other pretty well.
Like his father, Gabriel has his heart set on security, but he has a little different take to it. His knowledge and background are with cybersecurity. That’s one of today’s biggest deals. If you can’t
protect the security equipment you’ve just installed, that playing field is ripe for the picking. Our cover story this month comes from freelance writer Monique Merhige, who probably knows
these guys as well as anyone. So, knowing that, I asked her to write our cover story about how the company was founded and how they’ve grown over their many years. While IDESCO is a well-known in- tegrator in the Manhattan area, they also have a keen showroom at their offices where they represent numerous printer manufacturers.
IDSecurityOnline.com represents several manufacturers, and in that office they maintain a staff of well-trained technicians, who serve customers day in, day out. Part of their job is to provide onsite security consultations, but also to educate the public
how best they can offer security.
While secure card products are maybe not the most glamorous security widget, everyone you know has a card. It gets you into the parking garage at work, and
it gets you into the office. When you think about it, that card is pretty darn important, and thankfully, staying ahead of the curve with both printers and cards is something Gabriel is happy to do.

ON THE COVER
New York’s Times Square is an icon destination where millions of people track up and down the streets but likely don’t think about security. It’s a little bit different for Andrew Schonzeit (left) and his son, Gabriel M. Schonzeit, who constantly have security top of mind.
