A variety of manufacturers are developing new cameras that utilize the new H.265 platform, recognizing the industry’s inevitable move. And, in fact, Panasonic is leading this movement by launching their i-PRO Extreme platform, a native end-to-end H.265 system. While this is a full H.265 system, all new i-PRO Extreme products will have a H.264 compatibility mode to allow for a seamless transition.

When asked how receptive end users would be to the new i-PRO Extreme Platform, Mr. Hare responded in a word: very. “In addition to the higher quality and lower bandwidth, the cost for i-PRO Extreme products is extremely competitive to the Panasonic H.264 i-PRO products. As a result end-users can upgrade their system as they begin to replace old cameras, recorders and software. All the new i-PRO Extreme products have a H.264 compatibility mode to allow for end-users to make a seamless transition.”
