THE SAN ANTONIO COLLEGE (SAC) Fletcher Administration Building (Fletcher) reno- vation rejuvenated the heart of the campus. SAC reimagined and revolutionized the way ad- ministrative student services were delivered by creating a space that puts students first and al- lows staff members to serve as expert guides.
SAC’s student population is primarily non-traditional students varying widely in their age, goals, and comfort with technology. The goal of the renovation was to deliver a modern, tech- enabled building that is welcoming, accessible, and easy for all students to navigate on their terms.
New metal panels and sections of glass curtain wall updated the exterior of the building and created a highly visible landmark for the campus. A light pedestrian bridge leads students directly into the heart of the building, where they are met by greeters to welcome and triage their needs. Flexible furniture, movable wall panels, mixed textures and patterns, and visible wayfinding features define the reimagined space. The building provides different areas ranging in level of privacy, flexibility, and technology to accommodate a variety of scenarios.
Every detail speaks to the college’s commitment to serving their diverse student population with a myriad of opportunities for study, testing, advising, collaboration, and readily accessible administrative offices.
