about being somewhere among other likeminded professionals that just feels so... welcoming.
This month, the Occupational Health & Safety team is headed to Chicago for the American Society of Safety Professionals’ Safety 2022 Professional Development Conference and Exposition June 27-29. ASSP has so much lined up for attendees who choose to travel to McCormick Place Convention Center, or attend virtually online.
Attendees will have the chance to sit in on sessions from
a long list of over 200 educational courses being presented at
the conference this year. The sessions will cover a variety of occupational safety and health topics, which makes tailoring a schedule to your own career and aspirations easy and efficient.
General sessions this year include an Opening General Session from Kevin Brown, bestselling author of, “The Hero Effect,” and a Closing General Session from Devon Harris, a three-time Olympian with the Original Jamaican Bobsled team. Both sessions are set to help attending safety professionals challenge their own assumptions—to reflect and be inspired by real-world scenarios. These sessions are not recorded, so all attendees—whether you are attending in person in Chicago or from your desk virtually—will need to tune in live.
In addition to the general sessions, there is a Special Session slated for Wednesday, June 29 with Jim Fredrick, the Deputy Assistant Secretary of Labor, who plans to give an update on the Occupational Safety and Health Administration from the show. This update could prove useful to safety professionals closely monitoring new proposed rulemaking announced by the agency in the last year.
In addition to all the educational courses, there will also be dedicated time to visit the exposition, which will feature over 450 product and solutions manufacturers all exhibiting the latest in safety and health innovation. The excitement will only grow on the exhibit floor as you walk and talk with safety professionals from all over the country—meeting some for the first time, or reconnecting after a long hiatus. These exhibitors and safety professionals are all as passionate as you about safety and health, so make the most out of all your conversations with them.
So, in case you’ve forgotten the drill, pack your most comfortable shoes, pull out those business cards and get your plane tickets ready for ASSP Safety 2022!
