ASSP PRODUCT SHOWCASE
Safety Professionals to Round Up in Austin for ASSP Safety 2021
For the first time in over a year, safety professionals will have the opportunity to meet, network and learn in person.
BY SYDNY SHEPARD
They always say that together is better, and I think I would have to agree when it comes to safety professionals rounding up for the American Society of Safety Professionals’ Safety 2021 Professional Development Conference & Exposition on Sept. 13 – 15.
The conference, which will be an in-person event for the first time since 2019, will be held in Austin, Texas at the Austin Convention Center, which is just a few steps from stunning outdoor experiences, inspiring cuisine and some great southern Texas culture.
While some are looking forward to getting back into travel mode for the Safety 2021 Conference & Expo, there are some that aren’t quite sure if a trade show is something they want to tackle just yet due to COVID-19. ASSP is taking steps to ensure that all attendees feel comfortable no matter how they decide to take part in the event with a hybrid experience for all. The hybrid event will offer both online and in-person options for those who are interested in attending.
General Sessions for this year’s Safety 2021 Conference & Expo include presentations from Connie Podesta, Hall of Fame Keynote Speaker and author on standout relationships and Michael Bonner, Teacher of the Year and published author on the topic of improving performance through metacognition.
There will also be plenty of concurrent sessions on topics such as fall protection, electrical safety, human error, safety culture, worker wellbeing, environmental compliance, employer drug testing and more.
While the event is in September this year, don’t expect the Texas heat to have died down. Come to Austin prepared for a mix of anything. As a Texas native, I can tell you that you could see heat, you could see a cool breeze, or you might see a combination of both in the same day—so come prepared!
