Joining Foulke at Fisher Phillips Safety Solutions is Executive Director Robert Smith, a safety professional with a back- ground in manufacturing operations, man- agement, business development, regulatory compliance, employee training and devel- opment, and marine and boatyard safety.
Also joining the new company’s lead- ership team is Steve Davis, who has spent
more than 35 years directing and managing major risk management consulting engage- ments for clients in North America, Latin America, Europe, and the Pacific Rim.
Awards & Recognition
■ The ANSI National Accreditation Board announced that Deedra Hughes is the recipient of the second annual Terry Burgess Assessor of the Year Award, which was established to honor the memory of Terry Burgess, a highly valued ANAB em- ployee. The award recognizes outstanding service by an ANAB assessor.
Hughes received it Jan. 23 at ANAB’s Assessor Development event in Nashville. A contractor with ANAB since 2010, she was recognized for her exceptional profes- sionalism, dedication, and customer service in providing assessment for accreditation of forensic testing agencies. She has more than 18 years of experience with the Mis- sissippi Crime Laboratory, examining items
of physical evidence for biological fluids, performing DNA analyses, and conducting statistical analyses on DNA profiles. ANAB is a wholly-owned subsidiary of ANSI.
■ NIOSH, in partnership with the National Hearing Conservation Associa- tion and the Council for Accreditation in Occupational Hearing Conservation, an- nounced Kurt Yankaskas, Program Man- agement Officer with the Noise-Induced Hearing Loss Research Program of the Office of Naval Research, is the recipi- ent of the 2019 Safe-in-Sound Excellence in Hearing Loss Prevention AwardTM. The award was presented in February at the An- nual Hearing Conservation Conference in Grapevine, Texas.
■ The Tower Family Foundation (www. towerfamilyfoundation.org) and the Na- tional Association of Tower Erectors (www. natehome.com) announced that Austin Uhr, a junior civil engineering student from Evansville, Ind., is the 2019 recipient of the Ernie Jones Memorial Civil Engi- neering Scholarship at the University of Evansville.
