On the Move
Pure Safety Group has
added Scot McLean to its
leadership team. McLean
became the Houston-
based fall protection
company’s vice president
of national accounts, ef-
fective Jan. 2, 2019. He
has 40 years of safety ex-
perience, including in fall protection. “Scot is a highly accomplished business leader with an outstanding reputation and record for building businesses,” said PSG Execu- tive Vice President of Sales and Market- ing Tony Coco. “We’re privileged to have a leader of his caliber joining the PSG team.” McLean previously was president of inter- national operations and business develop- ment at Haws Corporation, according to the PSG announcement. . . . Rick D. Chan- dler, PE, commissioner of the New York City Department of Buildings, has retired from city service after 31 years with the city, including nearly 20 with the depart- ment, four of which were as commissioner. Commissioner Chandler led a sweeping modernization effort touching every part of the Buildings Department, including the launch of DOB NOW, which will al- low New Yorkers to do all business with DOB online; hiring more than 230 new inspectors and 150 technical staff, resulting in significantly faster permit reviews and inspections of construction sites and 311 complaints; and regulating the city’s real es- tate and construction industries during the largest building boom in at least 50 years. Thomas Fariello, the agency’s first deputy commissioner, began serving as acting buildings commissioner, effective Feb. 1, 2019. . . . Motion Industries, Inc., a Bir- mingham, Ala.-based distributor of main- tenance, repair, and operation replacement parts and a wholly owned subsidiary of Genuine Parts Company, announced the promotion of Randy Breaux to president on Dec. 12, 2018. “Randy
has an impressive history,
having served in numer-
ous management roles
during his career,” said
Paul Donahue, presi-
dent and CEO of Genu-
ine Parts Company. “His
extensive experience in
both industrial manufacturing and distri-
bution, which includes his sales, marketing, and corporate background, make him an excellent choice to lead Motion Industries. We feel confident that we will continue to see great things from our talented and experience Motion team under Randy’s leadership.” Breaux previously was Mo- tion Industries’ executive vice president of marketing, distribution, and purchasing. He joined the company in May 2011 after 21 years with ABB/Baldor Electric Com- pany. . . . Grainger appointed Kathleen S. Carroll to the posts of senior vice presi- dent and chief human re-
sources officer (CHRO),
effective Dec. 3, 2018.
She succeeded Joseph
High, who retired from
Grainger in 2018. Carroll
has more than 25 years of
experience leading and
implementing human
resource and organizational effectiveness strategies to drive business results. “Kath- leen’s wealth of knowledge in leading and working with prominent companies in a variety of industries, combined with her passion for helping people reach their full potential, will create added value for our customers,” said DG Macpherson, Grainger’s chairman and CEO. “I look for- ward to her applying a strategic and analyt- ical lens in helping us continue to recruit, develop, and retain great team members and grow as an employer of choice.” Car- roll previously was executive vice president and CHRO for First Midwest Bank.

“The addition of an innovative, grow- ing company like EMS to the HSI family of companies continues to reinforce our mission of delivering solutions that make the workplace and community safer,” said Chad Birckelbaw, CEO of HSI. “EMS has built a solid reputation as an innovative creator of high-quality emergency care content that is flexible and easy to use, and
we are excited about joining together to ex- pand new offerings to our customers.”
