AIHA announced in November 2017 that T. Renee Anthony, Ph.D., CIH, CSP, FAI- HA, has been selected as the new editor in chief of the Journal of Occupational and Environmental Hygiene and that Anthony, an associate professor in the Department of Occupational and Environmental Health at the University of Iowa’s College of Pub- lic Health, takes over as of Jan. 1, 2018. . . . . Minneapolis-based Environmental Re- sources Management (www.erm.com), a provider of environmental, health, safety, risk, public affairs and sustainability-related services, has hired Carla Picard as partner and established a public affairs presence in Richmond, Va., to serve clients in the Mid- Atlantic region and elsewhere, following its 2015 purchase of Minneapolis-based Natu- ral Resource Group. . . . On Oct. 27, Presi- dent Donald J. Trump nominated Scott A. Mugno, vice president for Safety, Sustain- ability and Vehicle Maintenance at FedEx Ground in Pittsburgh, Pa., to be assistant secretary of Labor for Occupational Safety
and Health—the leader of OSHA. . . . How- ard Elliott was sworn in as administrator of the Pipeline and Hazardous Materials Safety Administration by Transportation Secretary Elaine L. Chao in early Novem- ber 2017 at DOT headquarters in Wash- ington, D.C. . . . Schneider Electric in No- vember 2017 announced the appointment of Santiago Perez as senior vice president, solutions & services, in the United States. . . . Oregon Company Fined in Fall
Sayde Construction, Inc., an Oregon con- struction company, has been fined $115,740 after a worker fell nearly 20 feet from a house under construction in Ridgefield and died from his injuries in April 2017. The Washington State Department of Labor & Industries announced that it cited Sayde Construction for seven violations, includ- ing failing to ensure workers were given and used appropriate fall protection and also failing to have a written fall protection work plan.
