On the Move
The American Society of Safety Engineers will be renamed the American Society of Safety Professionals (ASSP) next year when it unveils a redesigned website at its Safety 2018 conference in San Antonio. The switch was approved by 74 percent of vot- ing members in online voting that ended Aug. 13, ASSE announced Aug. 16. The fi- nal vote count was 3,651 in favor and 1,267 opposed, well above the minimum voting requirement of 1 percent of ASSE’s eligible members because 14 percent cast ballots. The new name had been unanimously rec- ommended by the ASSE Board of Direc- tors in January and was supported by its House of Delegates in June at Safety 2017 in Denver. “Our members have always de- cided who we are and what we’re all about,” said ASSE President Jim Smith, CSP. “This latest vote was part of an objective process that has made us a strong organization for more than 100 years. Workplace safety is constantly evolving, so our society must adjust as well to remain strong and relevant while growing our profession. Our profes- sion includes more occupations and in- dustries than ever before.” . . . tant part of our growth
strategy, and this market
is hungry for new respiratory products that better protect workers’ respiratory systems while enabling them to be comfortable and comply with safety regulations,” said Alex Birrell, CEO of CleanSpace Technology. “Rick and Ken have proven track records in developing international sales strate- gies and distribution networks that will

Applicants needed to be an environmental studies major, have a minimum 3.0 GPA, and be an incoming junior or senior; Willse was chosen by the Environmental Studies Scholarship Selection Committee for his essay on the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals. “Our objective for this scholarship is to help students grow in this field, because we are EHS leaders, and the students will be, too. UC was ex- tremely accommodating for what we envi- sioned for this scholarship,” said Kristina Thomas, marketing specialist at Gensuite. “I am extremely thankful for the generos- ity the Gensuite team has shown me.
