Meeting the Chemical Management Challenge

This time, we’ve included the winning products from the 2016 Environmental Protection New Product of the Year contest and four feature articles.
A big and expensive chemical management case made headlines again in February 2017, illustrating how important this topic is to all of us. DuPont announced Feb. 13 that it had reached agreement to settle about 3,550 lawsuits related to personal injury claims from en- vironmental releases of PFOA (perfluorooctanoic acid and its salts) from the Washington Works plant in West Virginia. The total settlement amount is $670.7 million in cash, half of which will be paid by Chemours (which DuPont had spun off) and half by DuPont, both of which denied any wrongdoing.
