1 Why?
The PC DEEP is designed to lift where
there should be a lift so that the vulnera- ble points of the seated person will immerse and get the most reduction in pressure. We also consider the comfort of the person using our cushion in every design feature as well.
The foam base has many of these attributes built-in, starting with the material itself. There is a specific density and firmness required and tested in each of PC cushion’s high-density, high-resiliency foam bases to assure the best combination of lift and comfort. Then there is the shape of the base. The PC DEEP base features a deep well that allows ample room to submerge the IT’s and coccyx.
4 Silicone Gel
The PC DEEP cushion consists of two layers with the top layer being our super-soft, thick gel-infused viscoelastic foam. This unique insert allows emersion like a fluid, yet it is actually a solid, and therefore goes back to its original shape each time the person is off of the cushion. You never have to knead or mess with our insert in any way to get peak performance.
PC DEEP uses silicone gel, instead of the polyurethane gel that many other cushions use. Our silicone gel is not temperature sensitive, and it feels and acts like a liquid but will not leak even if punctured, because it is technically a solid. With Polyurethane, the gel is relative to its environment; therefore, it gets softer in warm weather and harder in cold, making it inconsistent. Even when polyurethane gel is very warm it is not as soft as our silicone gel.
2 Unique Features
One of the PC DEEP’s unique features is the subtle arc under the femurs. While this feature is not obvious it makes a huge difference in both comfort and circulation to the lower extremities. By meeting the center of the femur first as the person sinks into the foam, the pressure from the lift is distributed far more evenly than if the shelf under the thighs were flat. (Most cushions with a pre-ischial shelf have most of the pressure at the edge of the well and the front edge of the cushion.)
Another feature of the PC DEEP is our very specific support at the rear of the pelvis which enhances that lift and positioning for the person. No other deep cushions offer this feature.
5 Patented Overlay
PC Deep’s unique patented design using a 360-degree wrap to the bottom of the cushion, along with strategically placed pull straps that assure the layers and components never shift or get out of place. All of PC DEEP’s upper compo- nents are contained in this patented overlay, instead of gluing them onto the cushion. This gives the medical profes- sionals the ability to customize them as needed to care for the user.
All PC Cushions have a four-way stretch cover with moisture-wicking fabric that does not allow fluid through. This fabric wraps over all the top edges to prevent fluid from getting through the seams and keeps the seams from irritating the skin. It has both loop strips and aggressive slip-not on the bottom to assure the cushion stays in place on the chair.

3 Base
The contouring around the perimeter of
the foam base is set with the firmness and resiliency of the foam to provide the appropriate support and positioning along with comfort.
The first layer under the person is a soft gel-infused viscoelastic foam which helps keep the skin cool as the gel swirls throughout, and it provides a plush surface.
Next is a layer of high-density, high-resil- iency foam with a cut-out over the well. This layer is key to the person not feeling the edges of the well and for helping to better distribute the pressure in the lift areas for improved circulation and superior comfort.
