University of Pittsburgh Launches AT CERT 2020 Application Process
The University of Pittsburgh’s Rehabilitation Science
& Technology, Continuing Education (RSTCE) is now accepting applications for its AT CERT program for 2020.
The AT CERT course is aimed at professionals in the rehabilitation field who want to improve their knowl- edge of the assistive technology segment. Wheelchairs, communication devices and sensory aids will all be discussed in the course, which Pittsburgh describes as taking “a blended online and hands-on learning format.”
The AT CERT course is also a great learning opportunity for professionals planning to take RESNA’s ATP exam.
Mark Schmeler, Ph.D., OTR/L, ATP, Associate Professor and AT CERT’s Course Director, said in the announce- ment, “The AT CERT course is moving into its seventh year with over 200 past attendees who have a near-perfect pass rate on the RESNA ATP certification exam.”
The course uses online modules, case studies, evidence-based practice guidelines, model client assessments and presentations to teach assistive tech- nology principles and possibilities. Conference calls are held once every two weeks from January to May, and the course finishes with a two-day “hands-on, deep-dive lab workshop in Pittsburgh,” the news announcement said.
The program is now taking applications, and the appli- cation process is free. The cost of the program is $1,199, which does not include travel expenses for the two-day finale. To maintain a “diverse group of interdisciplinary professionals,” applicants are accepted on a rolling admission basis according to their areas of expertise.
