Numotion Takes
Annual NLC to a NuLevel
SAN ANTONIO, Texas — By the numbers, here’s who attended Numotion’s 2019 National Leadership Conference (NLC), held in mid January at the JW Marriott:
• 450: Approximate number of Numotion ATPs.
• 300: Approximate number of Numotion managers.
• 200: Numotion team members attending for the first time.
• 300: Exhibitors’ staff.
• 1: Numotion-sponsored service
pup in training.
But there were other numbers
worth noting, such as the 60,000 lbs. of rock moved during Numotion’s yearly community service event. One NFL Hall of Fame running
back giving a keynote. And what Numotion CEO Mike Swinford described as “Three main areas of focus that we remain steadfast on in our pursuit to change this industry.”
Those numbers together were paramount in raising this year’s conference to a “NuLevel.”

Welcoming New Teammates
One in four participants was attending Numotion’s conference for the first time, indicative of the company’s growth over the last year.
“Half [of the first-timers] came from acquisitions,” Swinford told Mobility Management. “A quarter were promoted into ATP or manager roles, so they were eligible to come on
the trip, and another quarter were external hires we had made.”
Numotion hosted a first-timers’ lunch on the opening day so attendees could hear from Swinford and other Numotion managers

Morgan’s Wonderland founder Gordon Hartman thanked Numotion volunteers.
what to expect from the conference. But Swinford said the conference’s content applied to everyone.
“If we’re talking about how to improve our processes for our customers, if we’re talking about
how to innovate and better serve them with better technology, with better cycle times, with better service, there’s nobody that doesn’t resonate with,” Swinford said. “Some under- stand where we’ve been a little bit more, but I think the content really applies to everybody because it’s always geared around customers. Even if we’re talking about compli- ance, operational excellence or tech- nology innovation, it’s always geared around how to better serve our customers, which is really the thread that gets pulled through everything and really energizes everybody.”
Extracurricular Activities
Not all of the energizing activities were traditional “corporate meeting” fare.
Those 60,000 lbs. of rocks,
for example, were at Morgan’s Wonderland, the fully accessible San Antonio theme and water parks that were the site of Numotion’s annual community service project.
