Labor with Love: Numotion Visits A.G. Hilliard Elementary
Hurricane Harvey did massive damage to the campus of A.G. Hilliard Elementary School in Houston. Just days before a new school year was to begin, the historic storm flooded buildings and damaged or destroyed floors, walls, furniture, books and school supplies.
When Numotion brought its annual National Leadership Conference (NLC) to town in January, it also brought more
than 600 volunteers eager and ready to beautify the Hilliard Elementary campus. As contractors rebuilt the school’s interior, Numotion staffers focused on the exterior. Since the storm
destroyed most of the playground equipment, volunteers painted Twister boards and hopscotch grids. They built container gardens and planted hundreds of flowering plants and trees.
On hand for the event was Hilliard principal Edrick Moultry.
He and several other school officials marveled at the largest group of volunteers to descend upon Hilliard to date; Numotion contributed around 2,000 work hours on the day. Students are being bused to a temporary school this year, but the Hilliard staff hopes to welcome the children back to their newly beautified campus in the fall. m

Flood waters reached the lower level of red brick; Kelly Mackenhau- sen, ATP, Grand Rapids, Minn., shows how high the water settled.
