National Seating &
Mobility Expands in Texas
Complex Rehab Technology Provider Also Continues Growing Its Accessibility Market Presence
Bill Mixon
National Seating & Mobility (NSM) has again expanded, this time in the Lone Star State.
In June, NSM announced it had acquired Mobility Healthcare, which had locations in Carrollton and Lewisville, Texas. NSM now refers to Carrollton as its North Dallas office, while Lewisville is called Dallas Access, to reflect newly available AccessNSM products and services at that location.
A First for the Dallas-Fort Worth Region
“We look forward to expanding our services in Dallas-Fort Worth and providing mobility solutions to more individ- uals with disabilities in Texas,” Bill Mixon, NSM’s CEO,
said in the June announcement. The six RTS’s formerly with Mobility Healthcare will continue their work from the North Dallas office.
Some former Lewisville location employees will remain at the Dallas Access location to work for AccessNSM.
While the North Dallas office is NSM’s seventh complex rehab technology (CRT) location in Texas, the Dallas Access office is the first AccessNSM location in the area and the second in the state (the other location is in Houston).
NSM continues to grow its CRT presence organically and through acquisition, but it’s also steadily expanding its accessibility footprint. Mixon said there are currently 14 AccessNSM offices operating in 12 states.
A Separate Business...
Home and environmental accessibility would seem to be a logical expansion for a CRT business, given its existing database of consumers in need of mobility equipment. In reality, though, there are challenges, including entirely new product segments, manufacturers and product lines to learn and service.
The offerings at AccessNSM (accessNSM.com), for instance, include stairlifts, patient lifts, ramps, vehicle lifts and lift chairs.
“AccessNSM is a comprehensive resource for products supporting mobility and independence,” Mixon told

Mobility Management. “We also provide expert in-home consultations and experienced staff specializing in accessibility products. From stair, wheelchair and vehicle lifts to ramps and bathroom accessories, we provide
a full range of indoor and outdoor mobility and home access products.”
Mixon added that AccessNSM operates separately from NSM, “with locations staffed by accessibility product specialists and skilled technicians. While the company can support National Seating & Mobility clients with additional product needs, AccessNSM serves a broader base of individuals with limited mobility, including those with degenerative diseases and the aging population.”
...But a Unique Perspective
Of course, NSM’s long tenure in CRT does give the company special insight into the people who could benefit from accessibility products.
“National Seating & Mobility has been focused on custom mobility solutions such as rehab and adaptive seating systems for decades,” Mixon said. “Our CRT professionals work daily with clients, therapists and physicians across the United States. Our clients have a wide range of accessibility needs, and our healthcare partners also need a trusted resource for additional mobility and accessibility products. AccessNSM serves as a resource for our clients and healthcare providers and extends our reach to individuals in need of these products.”
AccessNSM’s employees carry on the personalized service that NSM’s ATPs provide every day.
“We believe that personal service is necessary in providing the right needs for our clients,” Mixon said. “We offer expert in-home consultations for customers in areas served by our AccessNSM branches.
“While NSM and AccessNSM are separate businesses, collectively both companies expand our reach to those in need of mobility and accessibility solutions.” m
