ATS Foundation, ResMed Unveil Research Grant
ResMed will fund $100K for two-year research fellowship that will study sleep- disordered breathing and PAP therapy.
VGM Fulfillment Unveils Compression Resupply Program
The service, which leverages sizable warehouse resources, helps providers tap into a sizable market opportunity.
VGM Fulfillment, a division of VGM Group Inc., has launched a new compression hosiery resupply program. Complementing VGM Fulfillment’s existing CPAP resupply program, the compression program will take advantage of more than 20,000 additional square feet of additional warehouse and office space.
The U.S. compression therapy market will grow to a forecasted $1.6 billion in 2019, according to a report from GBI Research.
“We are excited to expand our offering of services outside of CPAP fulfillment to include compression stocking fulfillment,” said Jeremy Stolz, president of VGM Fulfillment. “Similar to CPAP, the compression market is growing. This new service allows the opportunity for seamless delivery or resupply of compression stockings directly to patients or a provider’s store.”
How the arrangement works: Providers submit an order; the order is shipped; the vendor will then bill the provider for the product; VGM bills for shipping and handling. VGM Fulfillment’s warehouse stocks the supplies, which gives providers a lean way to purchase supplies. n
The ATS Foundation has launched the ATS Foundation/ResMed Research Fellowship in Sleep-disordered Breathing and PAP Therapy.
Sleep therapy equipment maker ResMed will fund $100,000, for two years starting December 2018 to December 2020. The grant applica- tion process will open April 26 and applications will be reviewed by the ATS Scientific Advisory Committee for their scientific merit, innovation, feasibility and relevance to sleep-disordered
breathing and PAP therapy.
“Sleep apnea is a very common disease with
significant morbidity and we need to learn so much more about how to diagnose and treat
it most efficiently,” said Richard Schwab, MD, medical director of the Penn Centers for Sleep Disorders at the University of Pennsylvania Medical Center and chair of the ATS Scientific Advisory Committee. “Thus, we are very excited that the ATS and ResMed have partnered on a new two-year research fellowship to study sleep apnea and positive airway pressure. Such grants provide funding for the future leaders of the sleep field and will help patients who have sleep apnea.”
“This award can help shine a brighter light on sleep apnea – a public health crisis – and PAP thera- py’s role in addressing it worldwide,” said Carlos M. Nunez, MD, ResMed Chief Medical Officer. “When 85 percent of people with sleep apnea still aren’t diagnosed, ResMed is proud to support any research effort to accelerate finding, testing and treating them so they can enjoy a full night’s rest, better overall health and a significant reduction of life- threatening risks.”
