iWALK 2.0 helps patients get back on their feet
The iWALK 2.0 is a hands-free mobility device that lets users approximate their pre-injury routines while recovering. It resembles a pirate’s peg leg and attaches below the knee of the injured leg, leaving the patient’s hands free for ordinary tasks. The more natural use of muscles helps prevent the upper leg muscle atrophy that can happen with crutches and allows blood to ow more normally. The company says the iWALK 2.0 allows a seamless transition for walking while recovering from an injury, with minimal learning curve. The iWALK 2.0 has run away with multiple national and international awards, including the I-Novo Medica Award for best design.

Lumin offers ozone-free cleaning for CPAPs and accessories
3B Medical is releasing the 3B Lumin
disinfecting unit to disinfect a CPAP mask
and accessories. Lumin claims a 99.9 percent
kill rate for harmful bacteria, viruses, mold
and fungus, and ozone—free disinfecting in
a 5-minute cycle. It is compact enough for
countertop use. The product was developed
in response to several pulmonary physicians
expressing concern over their COPD patients
using an ozone based product, according
to Jose Llana, M.D., 3B’s national director of sales. “We wanted to develop a product that would not damage the CPAP machine itself, and had zero risk of exposing a respiratory patient to a lung irritant,” he said.
