Global Wheelchair Market to Reach $6.1 Billion by 2022
The biggest growth will happen here in the States, with a growing elderly population and increased spinal cord injuries driving the growth.
The global market for power and manual wheelchairs will hit $6.1 billion by 2022, expanding at a compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of 5.9 percent from 2017 to 2022, according to a report from market research and consulting rm Lucintel.
A growing elderly population, increased spinal cord injuries, and continuing wheelchair needs from other mobility patient groups will drive the growth, according to Lucintel’s 145-page “Global Wheelchair Market” report.
Lucintel noted that power chairs will see the most signi cant growth during the forecast period, but manual wheelchairs still comprise the lion’s share of the overall market. Also, North America will remain the largest geographic segment of the wheelchair market due to increasing obesity, avail- ability of more sophisticated wheelchairs, and higher disposable income.
Key trends that will in uence the market growth for wheelchairs include improved comfort and conve- nience, increased adoption of powered devices, and increase adoption of hybrid concepts in wheelchair.
Lucintel has posted a PDF brochure of the report at bit.ly/2A0EIJk, and is offering 10 percent custom- ization to early buyers of the data. n
