Portable Oxygen
Product Solutions
By Sydny Shepard
Innovations in portable oxygen, from por- table oxygen concentrators (POCs) to portable liquid oxygen systems, have helped revolutionize the business of providing long-term oxygen therapy by cutting costs; creating reoccurring revenue; and giving patients the freedom they most desire.
A major blessing of portable oxygen systems for long-term oxygen therapy providers is the fact that providers no longer have to deliver oxygen tanks to patients since POCs and similar devices let patients take care of this on their own. This also cuts out the added work of storing, cleaning, maintaining and filling the oxygen tanks, all responsibilities that eventually offset the costs of selling them.
Moreover there is a retail component to portable oxygen. More and more
patients are willing to buy their own POCs which bodes well for providers who are willing to stock the high quality products that patients see either from television advertisements, referral sources or even word of mouth. The selection of POCs is growing and so is the amount of features offered by those products. Stocking a wide variety with different features will help to provide patients with solutions that are unique to them.
The value of portable oxygen cannot be stressed enough. Patients will ensure they are able to possess these products, whether it is through funding or out-of-pocket, because their equipment is that important to their overall health, as well as their ability to be independent. Let’s take a look at some of the most recent offerings:
