Schott flexible glass
Corning’s Gorilla Glass is the now-familiar surface for many mobile screens, but new glasses are coming that are both tough and flexible. Schott’s chemically strengthened, ultra-thin glass is thinner than a piece of office paper, and can be produced in roll-able sheets of surprising length. The foldable screen is not quite a reality, but researchers are getting close.

Headsets and goggles are all well and good, but researchers at the U.S. Army Natick Soldier Research, Development and Engineering Center are making virtual reality a bit more... real. The VR dome already provides 180-degree, high- resolution simulations; whole-body motion tracking, directional wind and vibrotactile collision feedback are all in the works.
