Although each agency has different individual needs, cybersecurity requirements have common ground. Palo Alto Networks, the global cybersecurity leader, can help identify vulnerable areas in the network to help prevent breaches before they can even start.
Cybersecurity has always been
a fast-evolving landscape, but
the past year has brought about some considerable changes. What challenges are agencies facing now?
The pandemic has underscored
the need for more agility in government. With the shift to remote work and rapid migration
to cloud technologies, key questions come to mind: How
do agencies consistently secure those environments? How can
they respond quickly when they’re under attack? With security teams inundated with data, how do they find and investigate critical incidents while facing talent shortages in cloud and cybersecurity?
These are the types of challenges that we’ve been addressing with our government customers. Our portfolio of security solutions help agencies adopt innovations swiftly and scale rapidly while reducing the cost and time spent building out a cybersecurity infrastructure. Prisma Access, our FedRAMP Authorized cloud security service, enables agencies to extend a consistent Zero Trust approach to their remote workforce and branch offices.
The Biden administration’s executive order is an example of the government taking critical steps to address cybersecurity challenges. Why is that crucial right now?
Recent cyber incidents, from SolarWinds to the ransomware attack on the Colonial Pipeline,
showed just how critical it is
for agencies to modernize. The executive order calls for immediate action across the nation, supported directly by the cybersecurity funding in FY21 appropriations and the American Rescue Plan Act. Essentially, the administration is saying: There is an urgent need to act so make sure to spend it in the right places.
How can Palo Alto Networks help agencies optimize their cloud security?
For years, Palo Alto Networks was considered just a firewall company. However, we have grown to become a global leader in end- to-end cybersecurity, protecting customer endpoints, networks,
and clouds. From a technology perspective, our solutions are a step ahead. We leverage AI and machine learning to help agencies see what’s happening in their digital environments and move forward efficiently. For our government customers, we are focusing on four modernization pillars to achieve optimal security:
• Improving threat detection and sharing threat information beyond endpoints with integrated Endpoint Detection and Response (EDR).
• Supporting digital transformation by securing and monitoring their assets in all government clouds.
• Helping agencies evolve toward Zero Trust.
• Securing the internet-facing attack surface with Internet Operations Management.
