President Joe Biden nominated Christine Wormuth, a former top policy official at the Defense Department, to serve as Army secretary. If confirmed, she would be the first woman in that role.

Wiegmann was senior systems engineer for Hillary Clinton’s 2016 presidential campaign and served in the Army from 2004 to 2010.

According to the White House announcement, Drake will “shape and implement federal procurement and financial management policy to help carry out the president’s vision of a future made in America by all of America’s workers — including minority entrepreneurs and small businesses.”

David Bennett, director of operations at the Defense Information Systems Agency, retired in April after 23 years of service to the agency. During his career, he also served as CIO, program executive officer for Global Information Grid Enterprise Services and director of Enterprise Infor- mation Services.
Wormuth served as undersecretary of defense for policy from 2014 to 2016 during the Obama administration. She also led the Biden-Harris defense agency review team and is now a senior fellow at the RAND Corp.
