                                  Alliant 2 Contract Guide
 Turbocharging IT Procurement
GSA’s Next-Gen Contracting Vehicle Aims to Fast Track Modernization.
Earlier this year, on the evening
of June 7, an announcement flickered into the consciousness of the
federal IT contracting community. The brief electronic message heralded a development with the potential to change the acquisition sector’s status quo.
The General Services Agency’s new governmentwide acquisition contract (GWAC) had “prevailed in all litigation filed in connection
with the Alliant 2 GWAC” and would become active in a matter
of weeks, wrote John Cavadias,
the procuring contract officer for Alliant 2. Posting to GSA Interact, the agency’s community forum, Cavadias said the court’s ruling validated
the “innovative procurement approach” of Alliant 2. Indeed, the contract is nothing less than “the next generation GWAC vehicle
for comprehensive information
technology (IT) solutions,” according to the agency.
At a time of unrelenting demands for modernization, expectations for Alliant 2 are high. To succeed, the new vehicle must accommodate agencies and industry partners, promote competition, track outcomes and keep pace with IT innovation that evolves at breakneck speed.
On July 1, Alliant 2 hit the road.
