MAKING THE MOST OF NETCENTS-2’S PRODUCT FOCUS While Air Force customers know exactly what they need to satisfy
a project requirement or create
a complete solution, others rely
on vendors to help them choose the right products for their specific needs. Using NETCENTS-2 is a good start, since it has 24 contracts with proven vendors with products that meet all Air Force, DoD and federal specifications.
“The contract is network-centric, so make sure to choose a vendor with network engineers as well
as field solution architects and inside solution architects who
can help government customers with everything from developing solutions to making sure it will work in their environment and is the best value,” says Harris. “It’s important to find a vendor who can help the agency from solution development through fulfillment, implementation, maintenance, end-of-life and product refresh.”
It also makes sense to choose a vendor with a proven track record in the agency. In some cases, for example, CDW-G field account managers have spent time understanding the customer requirements before they even issue an RFQ. Once the RFQ is posted, CDW-G, as well as other
contract-holders, can respond appropriately.
Whether products, applications or network infrastructure, the
best way to get the most value from NETCENTS-2 is to do your homework, says Smothers. “Start by going to the NETCENTS-2 web page at http://www.netcents. af.mil/. Then talk to the technical and acquisition teams to get the information and help you need for your orders.”
