Included in the project will be an educational kiosk supporting academic instruction and research, sharing real-time performance data of the array. In addi- tion, the array also will offer Penn State opportunities to test future technological developments in the field.
The targeted completion date is July 2020. The project supports the university’s strategic plan, which cites stewardship of the planet’s resources as a key priority. Since 2005, Penn State has reduced its GHG emissions by 32 percent, and its goal is 35 percent by 2020.
Rush University
Receives Health IT Honor
Rush University in Chicago is a national leader in using IT to achieve better out- comes, lower costs, and improve the patient experience.
Recognizing this leadership, the Health Information Management and Systems Society (HIMSS) named Rush University Medical Center a winner of the HIMSS Nicholas E. Davies Award of Excellence for its use of health information technology to substantially improve patient outcomes and value. Announced in January, the award recognizes organizations that meet HIMSS’s stringent evaluation criteria and use health information technology to achieve sustain- able improvement in outcomes.
The three Rush projects submitted for the award make innovative use of the Epic electronic health record (EHR) to improve quality of care, increase efficiency, and reduce providers’ workload to free up more time for patient care.
Baldwin Wallace University Opens Center for Coaching Excellence
With the belief that lives are enriched through sport, Baldwin Wallace University (BW) in Berea, OH, has established a new Center for Coaching Excellence to support athletic coaches and student-athletes of all
ages in the pursuit of excellence.
Housed in BW’s School of Health, Physical
Education & Sport Sciences (HPESS), the Center provides opportunities for collabora- tive research, workshops, partnerships, train- ing, and activities that focus on coaching and player development, along with issues and
trends that impact sport and society today. The programs under the Coaching Excel- lence umbrella contribute to five broad goals:
