Baruch College Recognized as a Social Mobility Innovator
Baruch College in New York City was named a 2018 Social Mobility Innovator by CollegeNET for advancing “economic opportunity and helping to restore the promise of the American Dream” to low- income students.
CollegeNET launched the innovator recognition last year as part of its
efforts to recognize higher education institutions in the U.S. that lead the way in providing economic opportunities for financially disadvantaged students. At that time, Baruch College was recognized as a Social Mobility Innovator in 2017, and has also ranked #1 on CollegeNET’s annual Social Mobility Index for three consecutive years.
For several years, Baruch College has been consistently acknowledged for its success in promoting social and economic mobility for its diverse student body.
Westfield State Wins Brick Industry Association Award
The 2018 Brick in Architecture Awards honor 19 winners for outstanding design that incorporates clay brick. Judged by a jury of independent design professionals, the Brick Industry Association’s (BIA) pre-
eminent design competition awarded five Best in Class, five Gold, five Silver, and four Bronze awards from 88 total entries.
The award for Best in Higher Educa- tion was awarded to the Dr. Nettie M. Stevens Science & Innovation Center on the campus of Westfield State University
in Westfield, MA. The state-of-the-art lab facility, opened in May 2017, is the first new academic building on the Westfield campus in more than 40 years.
The project was designed by Cambridge Seven Associates (Cambridge, MA) and built by Walsh Brothers (Boston). CPM
